Browsers usage here
« on: December 01, 2007, 09:39:29 PM »
On another forum that uses SMF, an admin indicated that according to usage statistics the majority of users on that forum browsed it with Firefox.

So I was curious if that information was available here. I know there are a lot of vocal supporters of Opera, I was just curious if they outnumber Firefox users. And I love reading the stats. :)

Wait, you mean I shouldn't be using Safari on Windows?

Day-to-day it's Firefox, but every now and again I run Opera (still trying to like it more than ff) or IE.

Don't see the point of using Safari at all.

When I'm at work, Firefox because it's running off my flash drive.

At home, usually Opera unless I know I'll be going to a site that has weird compatibility issues.

Opera at home.  IE if something doesn't work in Opera and to use my work websites (grading site and exchange).  At school - IE for work stuff (anything the kids will see), and opera for any personal browing/research, and for in depth work browing (ie planning lessons etc).

Ha!

I kinda just meant for an admin here to check the stats and report them to us. But this is great, too. :D

Let em see that IE isn't the only choice.

I do sometimes, but I have some windows that open with Opera that they don't always need to see (ie grad school reserach...)

I tried to look, but Plesk fucking blows and the reporting package is shit.  Doesn't list anything about browser usage.  I can't wait to move this shit.

Ahh, so it's the host, not the forum. I'm not very knowledgeable about these sorts of things. Thanks for looking.

P.S. Firefox 95% of the time, IE when I want to log into a site with a different account and not mess with my FF cookies, or on pages that don't work with FF.

Random note: A guy in my company uses Firefox on a Mac and is able to access his email on the exchange server ok (not perfect, but ok).

Could someone explain how / why you make a decision to use a particular browser? I can understand choosing a car - you go for one that's comfortable / fast / looks good, but I have no idea of the equivalent metrics in a browser. As far as I'm concerned I put in a URL and the website displays :dunno:

Perhaps I should be more anal :D.
