Not that I have anything against the beer idea.  However of it is going to be beer, make it a full flavored heavily bodied amber.  Dopplebock or the previously suggested Hacker Pschorr Octoberfest would be good starts.  Also consider the new Budweiser American Ale (really!).

A heavy full flavored beer is exactly what you don't want with light meat. Also he said they don't drink beer.

And budweiser sucks. The only beer I found that tastes worse then bud light is the new american ale.

Micah, do you know if your father has a particular preference of white or red? I know many people who "enjoy" wine that have a preference regardless of how heavy or light the meal is.
