$25 PC

How the hell can they afford to produce it? Surely a HDMI port, ARM Processor and USB Host as parts would clock in way over $25
 :dunno:

Cool though...cant wait to buy one!

Whoa.  I guess their margins are so fucking tiny and they're getting a really good deal on the hardware?

That's pretty neat.  Though it looked liked the USB port was USB A male which most keyboards are.  So you'd have to get a female/female adapter for it.

As far as price: From digikey I was about to find a 500ish MHz ARM11 for ~$10 per on an order of 90.  A USB jack for ~$1.60 per for order of 5000.  HDMI for $1.80 per for an order of 1000.  So that's ~$13 a pop plus other costs (board, resistors, caps, etc).  Figure if they buy more direct they can get those costs down even more.  But yeah, it does look like it'll be pretty small margins.

Edit:  Wait, how is that thing gonna get the internet?

You'd need a USB host for that but if they can work it with an external hub then that will save some cost

>>500ish MHz ARM11 for ~$10 per on an order of 90

Wow...I thought they were quite a bit more than that...circa $30-$40. I never bothered to check though so I'll take your word for it

>>HDMI for $1.80

I image the reference to HDMI fooled me a bit there...I immediately thought it would have a fair amount of graphical muscle that goes along with HDMI. It's probably just an old text output component linked up to a new interface.

Not easily I imagine!

After I posted I found some USB network adapters.  So really, as long as this thing can handle a USB hub then the world is open.  I so predict hobbyists going nuts over these.
