Deep Fried Turkey
« on: November 24, 2011, 10:00:40 PM »
Had my first today.  My brother got a sweet rig and made turkey for my extended family... and 18 lb bird and I was almost last in line and I only got a small bite.  But DAMN was it awesome.  Juicy as hell.  He also injected it with some kind of creole (sp?) marinade or something and that was amazing.  He used peanut oil to fry it.

Helps to dry the skin and rub it with Frank's hot sauce.

does it "fry out" the taste and heat of the hot sauce?

Ober, any links to what fryer you guys used?
Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.

I could ask my brother what he got.  To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if he fabricated part of it himself or if at least some of it was custom.  He builds custom pasteurizers (sp?) and all kinds of crazy shit in his garage.  He actually quit his job and works as the sole contractor for his father-in-law now.  Kinda crazy.

I got there well after it was already done and his setup was partially broken down and I don't remember if there was a name on it.  Looked sharp though.

Wouldn't be too hard to build a decent setup
