I have succumbed to Oblivion but, despite my current pc just meeting minimum requirements, have found it surprisingly playable thus far, even in the 640x480 screen resolution it decided in its wisdom to burden me with.
I got quite a surprise to learn that King 'Urinal Septic' (or whatever his name is) is read by Paddy Stewart (Sean Bean and Terrence Stamp do some voices, too, apparently). I decided to go for a diy class rather than one of the preset ones so, naturally, I am playing a
Fhucktahrd; class statistics are as follows:
- Specialisation: combat
- Attributes: Strength, Intelligence
- Skills: Alteration, Armourer, Athletics, Blade, Heavy Armour, Marksman, Mercantile
Holay Sheeyit, my Fhucktahrd character, is currently 2nd level, a Breton and stuck in some town near a Priory, the name of which eludes me at present. Having leapt everywhere, telling bad jokes to any who would listen, Holay Sheeyit has - ahem - leapt from 5 to 29 in Acrobatics but has, sadly, only gained about a dozen points in speechcraft. Holay is a regular little potion factory when time and ingredients permit and enjoys breaking lockpicking tools at almost every opportunity. He can't see at all in the dark but, thanks to the weightlessness of torches in the Oblivion game-world, is equipped with a small forest of the handy, portable lights.
Holay had a horse for a while but it had real steering problems (it's reverse gear wasn't too great either) so he tried to kill it but, alas, it proved to be immortal. He did gain a whole heap on his blade skill while trying to render it into dogfood, though. Holay is morbidly fascinated by how small furry creatures like rats and pooches twitch spasmodically once they've been slain.
Holay joined the Mages guild recently but suspects they may all be gay on account of the fact that every time he goes to sleep on a bed in the Mages Guild, he wakes up in the morning with some other guy sound asleep next to him, sometimes buried up to his knees in the mattress. Holay has so far been unsuccessful in his attempts to join the fighters' guild where, hopefully, they have a more traditional one-to-a-bed-unless-you're-married policy.
Haven't seen any cliff racers yet which is an unexpected bonus.
