So eventually XP isn't going to be practical...then what?

Likely by them time that happens the need for the software would have passed. XP will remain as a very useful OS for another 6-10 years at least.

Hopefully GE realizes this and fixes their software.  Otherwise I'll just recommend other devices to them.  GE doesn't have a monopoly in the sector but the energy industry is pretty resistant to change for now

I'm not trying to bash XP at all, but do you really think people will be developing software compatible for an OS when it's 20 years old?

Not really, in some cases maybe. I think it is more likely that GE will continue to make minor updates to a software already in place as opposed to completely rebuilding it when XP continues to carry on and the hardware continues to function with it.

In other words if it aint broke don't fix it, and XP doesn't break too often.

lol

edit: the reason I'm lolling is that GE are the kings of "if it aint broke don't fix it" and "if it's broke don't fix it" and "don't fix it"

FF here.  I've tried Chrome and I just don't like it.

Jake, I get the same annoying 'disable addons' thing EVERYTIME I open IE even though I tell it to never ask me.  So fucking annoying.

I switched to chrome on the home machine as well. I like how the bookmarks sync between machines.

I'm still using IE at work because I have to for certain portals.

FF has the same feature.  Everything that Chrome syncs, FF does as well.

The bookmarks thing is huge, I love it. Yea FF does it, but in my experience it can be quirky. Missing entries, duplicates, etc. I had a great comparability extension before my last system rebuild that made every IE website work. I did a quick search and came up empty so i am trying to recall the name.

So Chrome has recently crashing random pages on me very frequently. Switched over to FF again for now.

Actually, it seems like there's a problem somewhere else. FF keeps crashing too.
