British Post-Punk
Public Image Ltd - Public Image (1978)
An absolute essential. Released in 1978, this album more or less set the bar for the future punk music. John Lydon (nee Johnny Rotten) absolutely goes off his nut, fuming about Malcolm McClaren, tories, religion and everything inbetween. It makes his turn on Bollocks seem tame by comparison. Jah Wobble's dubby bass lines dominate and Keith Keith Levene's razor sharp guitar lines slice your brain as much as your ears. Somewhere, a young Edge and Bono were taking notes.
