Sounds like good motivation for everyone, but you can count me out. If I lose 30 lbs I think I'm at 0% body fat. Although apparently, if that were to happen, I would still be a healthy BMI.

I drink about 1 can of Mt. Dew/day.  I say about because there are days when I don't finish it.  I truly wonder if I cut it out if it would help.  Not that I'm looking to lose a ton... I want to lose like 10-15.  I'd probably replace it with hot chocolate or tea with sugar though so I don't know how far ahead I'd be.

Oh, and not to totally hijack... so good luck Jake.  :)

It was weird for me.  I replaced the Mt Dew with Arizona teas, then the Arnold Palmer Half Tea Half Lemonade (the zero calorie version), and then just water.  The transitions weren't really intentional, they just sort of happened.

got on the scale today and I was at 318. Haven't done anything special other than cut portion sizes (still mostly same food) and started drinking water. I'm taking advantage of my mom being here and planning to go to do some laps at the pool this evening.

Losing a bunch of weight at the start of a diet or exercise program is not unusual at all.  The trick is trying to stick with it when it slows down in a couple weeks

Truth.  Mine didn't come for about two months though.

true that. I seriously need to drop some poundage, I get winded too damn fast these days, and don't have as much energy. I will follow through with this. I need to.

I mean don't get me wrong 5 lb is good if it's going in the right direction but I was getting swings like that within a week even when I was like 4-5 months into my diet

I was at 315 on Saturday but have not checked since.

How do you guys drink water alone? stuffs nasty! :) I mean, I love drinking mineral water, but regular water is just blah. I bought some crystal light the other day, but that tastes really artificial....ideas?

Keep drinking water.  Seriously, in the beginning it it sucks.  But much like the salt issue in Micah's topic you go through the same thing with water.  Now that water has been my only liquid beverage in many months it doesn't bother me.  Hell, I went and got a 20oz Mt Dew Friday and still have like a 1/4 of it left.

Mmmm, love me some nice cold tap water. Water or milk usually for me. I feel bad if I drink soda more than once a week. But beer is always fine.
