That looks really fun. We go every year to a few maple syrup festivals in the area. There is one that still makes it in the traditional way with large cauldrons boiling over a fire. The kids love to see the process (and eat pancakes and maple candy :D ).

I thought you sold the house out in the woods?

I spent a little time today upgrading to the latest 2.0.x version and moving to PHP8.  I still want to go to the next version SMF (2.1.x) but I will set aside more time to do that since it seems like I need to do a full upgrade.

Is anyone using anything besides the default template?  It seems like the upgrade to 2.1 will require me to trash all mods and it might wreck any older templates.  But it's a pretty decent upgrade from what I can tell so it seems well worth it.

nope, not selling. We give some to friends. I eat 20 eggs per week. Between my wife and kids, they eat another 20 or so.

Are you selling them?  Your cholesterol will hate you if you eat that many every day lol.

Wow - that's a wild ratio!!  How much do you collect in a single day and how do you store it?

that depends. We have 19 trees tapped. There are days we get 5 to 10 gallons total. best days are when it is around 20-25 at night, and 40-45 during the day. At that peak last year one day we had close to 40 gallons. Yesterday we had 25.

You can't store it too long, because bacteria loves that sugar water. so at 45+ degrees, no longer then 36-48 hours. I pretty much boil right away.

It's been a long time since I dealt with eggs on my grandparent's farm... how many eggs do 10 chickens produce?

8 to 10 eggs per day, except when days are short and cold; mid-November to mid January we've been getting 3-5. We had 10 yesterday :)

We're in the middle of Manifest.  2nd season maybe?  Haven't watched it in a while. It's slowly starting to get kind of annoying.  The acting is so terrible in that show but I like the story line.  The lead guy is the fuckin worst.  He's so damn cheesy.

I've heard the Expanse (Prime) is good but haven't seen it myself.

Started going to the gym on 11/28/2021 - 6 days a week at night.
Set a goal: 50 pounds by the end of 2022.
Went on the all meat diet between 2/3/2022 and 4/15/2022.
Started going to the gym in the morning (5:30am) sometime in march 2022.
Started going to bed around 10pm at about the same time.
After the all meat diet I ate pretty much everything but still protein heavy
56 pounds down mid September 2022.
Kept the same weight (+/- 4 pounds) until 1/29/2023
Goal for 2023 - drop another 30
1/30/2023 went on the all meat diet again and will stay on it until 4/1
2/4 down another 6 pounds

So all meat diet is pretty much this: Meat (mostly red meat and half of that is venison), eggs, water, coffee. done.
Last year when I did it, 3 weeks in, I craved raspberries - I felt like I needed them. That was my cheat.

This time around no cravings yet.

Oh yeah, no alcohol on the no meat diet. But I do smoke the ganja when at social events :)

When off the diet, I drank 1 day a week, except for fishing week and hunting week :D

I feel great. I've put on a ton of muscle. Everything is better - not only physically but mentally too. And other aspects. I mean, everything.

Goal for 2024, drop 15 pounds to reach my target weight of 235.

oh yeah #2 - sauna 3x week for 20-25 mins. wonderful
