Anyone see this? Premiered last night on AMC, it was pretty terrific
-
I've been reading the comic as its been coming out for a long time now. If they keep to how it was written it'll be pretty awesome. They guy that writes them (Kirkman) isn't afraid of killing main characters off so it should get more interesting as it goes along
-
Good so far...watching it now...before leaving for work.
-
Looks to have a budget ...so far.
-
Yeah we'll see if they blew their wad on the premiere or not. One review I read said the second episode is kind of boring, but whatever. It's not like the first was super action packed, either
-
Made it about a quarter of the way through before I left for work. Probably finish after I get home while cooling off from the gym.
-
Hulu charges per episode now?
-
Second episode was good too. I can't wait for next week
-
Ah. Got ya.
-
I thought it was terribly, terribly cliched, but then somebody reminded me that dude, it's a zombie TV show.
So for what it is, it's not bad so far.
-
First episode was good...got to see the others now
-
EP 2 wasn't bad.
-
Shows like this, and movies like The Road really make
me wish for some sort of apocalypse. I think that would
be an awesome, meaningful way to live. Survival, that
is.
Not unless you have stuff worked out before the dead rise/bomb goes off/aliens land (delete as applicable). That's why I have a collection of weapons, a portable generator and a lifetimes supply of baked beans under my stairs. No other reason...
-
I've been reading The Road and it is definitely not a future I'd want to live in. Fun to read about, though (and depressing)
-
Before? No, not so far (I'm probably 2/3 of the way in). It makes it sound like there was an explosion from a nuclear bomb or something, but it's vague. In the part where it happens, the father seems to know what's going on or is sort of prepared for it, so to me it implies that it was an ongoing war of some kind.
I haven't seen the movie - I had it from Netflix for like 3 weeks and was never in a mood to watch it.
edit: I'm going to take a break from the book for a little while since it's so depressing
-
does the book say what actually happened? The movie didn't
Not really
-
Part of the reason I want to get a gun is in case of apocalypse. Is that weird? Post-apocalyptic LA is so cliche, but it would be a lot of fun. Just me, my dog, and a few guns.
The movie was awesome. It had Omar (from The Wire)
in it.
Enough for me to watch it.
-
Yeah that's pretty weird dude
-
Episode 3 is hell of boring so far
edit: Got better for a minute at the end. Looks like 4 should be good
-
Heh, when I saw it at first I was like "oh, so that's what he meant"
-
Yeah that's pretty weird dude
I'm OK with that.
>>It would probably be best to wait until after the apocalypse
>>to get a gun, though. Then you can just loot it and don't
>>have to worry about background checks. Plus your choices
>>wouldn't be limited to what's legal.
Good looks, broski. But I feel like the gun shop would be a dangerous place to be after an apocalypse -- seems like a beacon for other survivors. Survivors with guns.
-
I though it was good. Very good show so far
-
Caught up. It is still doing okay....
-
Not bad, but I still give it a B grade for being silly.
-
got this on UK satellite tv too so watched it - enjoyed it, yep some was quite silly but then most zombie stuff usually is - bit surprised at only a 6 episode series though
-
>- bit surprised at only a 6 episode series though
It's a split season, it'll pick up again later
-
got caught up during the marathon on AMC - but the rest of the reason don't start till after I'm back in Japan :(
and I don't have AFN :(
-
saw the first three episodes on netflix - good shit. enjoying it quite a bit.
-
Ashley actually asked me last night to get season 1
-
Ashley actually asked me last night to get season 1
So we got to watch the first episode last night. Initial thoughts is not bad, and we will watch it, but so far it is way too predictable. It's like 28 days and every other movie taken and put right onto tv. Just doesn't screem any kind of originality yet.
-
too bad netflix doesn't have season 2 :( I think it is available on amazon prime...I canceled that a few months ago...
-
It's only available for purchase on Amazon. $1.99 / episode.
that's not too bad then. We might do it
-
Done with the first season. Pretty good overall, not as predictable as the initial episode was. You can tell it comes into it's own after a few episodes. Grabbing season two stuff now.
-
>>Grabbing season two stuff now.
where else did you find it?
-
He breaks the law
Ah
-
He breaks the law
I'm sorry, but this is stupid. It is a TV SHOW that you can legally DVR. I pay for the same fucking service it airs on, and now have it set to DVR. So if I want to download a fucking TV SHOW that I can legally SEE every time it comes on, I'm going to do it.
It's not like downloading movies, each of those you go to a theater and pay for. This show comes to my fucking tv so fuck off.

Justify it all you want, doesn't change the facts. Copyright owners are allowed to control the distributions of their work. And isn't it a cable show?
-
It's an AMC show, which I get on Directv. I just recorded the latest episode at 8:00. So if I pay for the service, what the hell does it matter if I download old shows? It is no different then if I had them on DVR. It's no different than making copies of DVD's or CD's you own.
-
Yes, yes it is.
-
Ok I have to hear this, how is it different
-
One you are violating copyright law and the other you aren't.

Can't tell if ethic and mike are trolling...

Nope, I'm pretty anti stealing copyrighted materials.
-
Can't tell if ethic and mike are trolling...
ethic definitely isnt. He's made his opinions on piracy pretty clear
-
:popcorn2:
(I've always wanted to use that one)
-
This is the greatest show ever. Better than the wire, the shield, breaking bad, justified, etc. Best show EVER. I am all caught up. Last week, ya bout time that happened.
-
I'm trying VERY hard not to watch the finale. I promised Ashley I would wait till she gets home Sunday, but man is it bugging me.
-
Anyone looking for a refresher before season 3 starts in a week, 2 is now up on Netflix.

-
Yea a lot happened season 2. I pay for netflix worth every penny

i bet it is for you since you spend 50% of your day watching it :p
-
Sadly it's closer to 75-80% of my day :(
-
this season is going to rock
-
OMG - we are all caught up through the most current episode. By far best show on TV right now. The writing is awesome, the acting is good, there is nothing that I don't like about this show. You guys still watching?
-
Yup. I thought this season has been top notch, and it pulls no punches which I really like
-
Yep, I'm still into it, great show!
-
anyone still watching? This season was sort of dragging - that is until the last episode! holy hell - I wonder where they will go now?
-
Yeah, I'm sad now :(
-
Yeah, I was thinking that "the flu" was sort of a lame conflict compared to what they faced in previous seasons... Then BAM we're back!
-
Prison Break 2
lol
-
Best season yet? I sure think so!
-
Terrible finale. So sick of these cliffhangers
so who do you think got a taste of Lucille?
-
Best season yet? I sure think so!
I'm so happy it is over
-
this last season sucked. "All Out War" dragged way too long. Too much gunfire. Seems like their magazines have an unlimited amount of ammo. Overall too much shooting. I'm glad it is over and hope that they are able to introduce something more interesting for the next season. There was a major death in this season - which sucks as it destroyed one of the more interesting relationships within the story line. Out of the whole season the last episode was the best because of the final twist that I was NOT expecting.
Anyone else still watching>?
-
'still' watching is kind of incorrect. My wife and I watched seasons 1-7 starting in Nov/Dec and caught up and watched all of season 8. We're into it but I agree it is dragging out. Seasons 1&2 were the best by far. I hope they improve the writing and bring in a better story line. The 'Saviors' story line is overdone.
-
I still watch. Maggie and Rick are leaving next season so after they go I'm out too
just read that. Perhaps that's a good thing and it will give the show a well needed reboot. Or it will kill it :/
-
Yikes, I suspect that will kill the show. I think it's been on a downward slide for a while anyways.
