making a cd for my wife
« on: May 14, 2013, 12:37:34 AM »
My wife asked if I could make her a cd...yes, that's right, I said a CD. She supplied me with a song list, and I have to say that I have not heard most of the songs on it, nor have I heard of the artists either! I didn't get a chance to listen to the whole thing yet, but some tracks are pretty cool, like this one for example:

I was able to get most of the songs on Amazon, even though I think they were a bit more expensive than iTunes. But I hate iTunes, and vowed not to use that service ever again. Not very happy with Amazon either though...after downloading all the songs they practically make you download their cloud player. You "could" do things without it, but they make it very difficult. Here are some more videos from her playlist

there were also some more known artists to me like Mumford and Sons, Fallout boy, Bruno Mars, John Legend, Justin Timberlake, and Bruno Mars. But overall, a nice mix - and my wife's music tastes have changed in the last 5 years!

I've actually been thinking about making one of these as well. I can stream audio from devices to my car via bluetooth, but it's technically illegal to control the device if you want to change songs. My car can also read and control iPods, but I don't have one. I'm thinking of just burning a random 200 songs onto a CD to have some good tunes to flip through.

Long live the CD!

I still have my original CD collection.  Short of an LP not much sounds better.

Loved it.  I don't want it through iTunes and can't get it on Amazon.  Suggestions?

M8, Midnight City
Meh.

Two Door Cinema Club, Sun.
Listenable but not quite a purchase.

Bastille, Pompeii
Listenable but not quite a purchase.

Linkin Park, Castle of Glass
Liked it enough to listen through a couple times.  May get this.

C2C, Happy Ft.
Loved the video.  What a blast!  Purchased.

Revolver, Let’s Get Together
Listenable but not quite a purchase.

I probably have a couple hundred CDs (I used to work in a CD store, bought everything at cost). I'd love to rip them all but that's time I don't have.

a few years ago I spent a couple hours on a Saturday morning ripping my 100+ CD collection.  It goes pretty fast as long as you set your ripping program to automatically rip when you insert a CD and automatically eject the CD when its done.  Then you can just surf the web or do your thing and keep popping CDs in and out.  After I ripped mine, I gave away my collection because I just didn't want to store them any more.

Also, I just recently uploaded all of them to my amazon cloud player

Did it upload your rips or their version of them?  If it was the actual rips that could be kind of large.  I have maybe 500 CDs.
