Whole wheat pasta
« on: May 31, 2008, 10:50:30 PM »
So today I picked up some whole wheat spaghetti (I actually wanted fettuccine but couldn't find any) to use instead of regular pasta.  I am quite surprised that it was so easy to cook and tasted really good.  Gonna have to start trying it more often.

Is that available in regular grocery stores?  I went to the Whole Foods Marketplace to get the pasta I had.

Yeah, you can get it at pretty much any normal grocery store around here.  I'm pretty surprised you'd have to go to Whole Foods or TJ's or something to get whole wheat pasta, though.

Well unfortuantly they closed the Ralph's (I think they were associated with Kroger) near me and all I have really close is Food 4 Less which carries crap.  So I have to travel a little bit to get a decent store and I never seem to remember to look for it when I was there and I don't remember ever seeing it there.  I wanted to try some whole wheat pasta so instead of taking the chance of the stores not having it I just went where I knew it'd be.  Plus it gave me a chance to check the store out.

I like whole wheat pasta but I never buy it cause it's more expensive.

The price difference isn't massive, and the nutritional gain makes it worth it, IMO.

My GF has some medical condition where she needs to keep her starch intake under control so we have been eating whole wheat pasta for the last couple of years. I don't think I would want to go back now, it tastes really good.
