I was told to format a friends computer, but I wanted to know what was wrong before I did.  When IE was opened I got a popup from party poker, so they just wanted the spyware removed.

I d/led adaware and ran it (while it was running the hard drive was making a weird clicking noise ), I removed the critical object and updated the antivirus.  When the antivirus was updated, it said the computer needed to be restarted.

When the computer booted up I got an error saying a hard disk couldnt be found. Turned off the computer, then turned it on, and I got some other weird error... I also got one saying no Operating System was found.

So I thought I would format to see what would happen.  Got to the second screen, setup said it couldnt find a hard drive!!

Is it safe to say the hard drive is toast?

Sounds similar to head damage 1 (just like jkims)

Unfortunate.  I think it's safe to say it's probably dead beyond any normal attempt at a recovery.

Well there wasnt much data to save, luckily I did save it before it happened!
