lenses galore
« on: January 22, 2010, 11:22:57 PM »
I want to get an accessory lens to my rebel sometime this year. My budget is around $250 - so looking at used. I don't know if I should get a macro, wide angle, or a telephoto. I really want a wide angle for landscapes, but I don't know if I'll get my moneys worth in and around Chicago.

What do you guys use most often?

What would you recommend in my price range?
Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.

What have you got already? Loads of guys rave about the canon  "nifty fifty". Equates to around a 75mm on a crop sensor like yours. Great for portraits etc. Loads of rave reviews, sharp as Satans whiskers and well within your budget.

Speaking personally Im hoping to buy this or this, but I'm macro-obsessive :).

for the rebel I just got the stock lens. Thanks Rob, I'll look into that canon lens.

Well, assuming the stock is something like an 18-55 then maybe something a bit longer? Maybe a 55-200 or 70-300?
