Remote Media Player?
« on: August 22, 2005, 03:09:34 PM »
Here's what I want to do:  I have my 2 PCs plus my laptop around the house hooked up through my wireless router.  All of them have various MP3s and such that I'd like to play on my stereo in my living room.

Is there a piece of hardware that will take either a feed or allow me to browse and play MP3s through my stereo wirelessly (wirelessly meaning the transfer of data from the PCs to the unit, and then through normal RCA wires)?  I found one from Linksys, but you have to have that freakin Windows Media Center OS on the PC.

I know I'm not the only nerd here who has either desired this or had it at one point or another.  We did this in college, but we had an entire PC sitting in the living room (and I don't want to do that).

You can do this easily if you use your computer as the receiver (instead of the stereo). You can get IR remotes for your PC as well.

Im not sure of a way to do it as you described though.
