The beginning of a massive fantasy epic a la wheel of time. First truly long form I've read in quite a while (1000 pages). Kept my attention pretty consistently which is a lot for a book that's that long. It was excellent. Witty with a somewhat classic honor to victory point of view. Normally I'm not a fan of books switching between lots of characters because I get confused or bored, but I didn't mind it here. Sanderson limited the number of characters to something I could handle, and for te most part, all of the story lines were great.
Best of all - more twists than you could shake a stick at - especially in the last couple hundred pages. Excellent read.
