I know most of our kids are a little young for this but bear it in mind for the future. I'm mentioning it now because it's a great introduction to philosophy, despite being aimed at kids(15 or so). It's an excellent 'toolkit' for exploring and creating an individual self who is less likely to follow the herd just for the sake of it. It is a beautiful book, well conceived, written and executed.

I agree. I read it sometime ago and then passed the book along to this girl who was "finding" herself before leaving Colorado.

Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.
