New keyboard
« on: January 03, 2007, 09:33:39 AM »
Well, following my brilliant keyboard idea, I went and bought myself one of the Microsoft Ergo 4000 keyboards. The local computer super store had them on sale. So for the rest of the week I'm going to try it out at work and see if it's worth picking one up for home. So far I like it though. My only grip is the spacebar needs to be pressed down more vertically and I'm used to sort of edge hitting it on my other keyboard (hopefully it might loosen up a bit). It's odd though, cause even having used a split keyboard for a while it's still taking me a little bit to find the new placement of the keys.
The padding hand rest is sort of nice too, but I see that wearing out rather quickly. I'll give an additional review at the end of the week

Commenting on the hand rest material.  We have about thirty in service where I work, which is a reasonably rough environment.  The padding has lost it's sheen,  otherwise it has held up well.  I have received and continue to receive compliments on the choice.  Some have maybe 300 hours use.  No failures yet.  Just picked up ten more.

Is there a way to get the zoom thing to work as a vertical scroll?

Nope.

We already tried without success.

Sorry.

I see it does work in Firefox but it's upside down. I've been looking online and it seems there's a post on it at another forum. Looks like you can modify and XML file and get it working.
