I posted a while ago asking about some companies for web hosting, and plan on signing up for something this weekend.

I also need to register a domain.

1and1 is very affordable, but there have been mixed reviews, so Im not sure if I want to go with them.

I know jverkoey uses this service: http://powweb.com/PowWeb/OnePlan/Detail and it looks pretty good, plus you get 6 months free if you sign up for a year.

I was also looking at http://www.lunarpages.com/plan1.php , although they charge a $30 setup fee if I dont sign up for a year.

Opinions again...

There's a thread in Open Discussion about this that has several suggestions for domain registration (I think tgm started it)... but I always use http://www.active-domain.com for domain registration.

I use http://www.blaineiler.com for hosting and that's who ES is hosted through.  He seems to be working on the site, but his rates are reasonable and the features are some of the best I've found.  Plus, I can probably get you a slight discount (no promises).
