How to: Make Firefox3 remember all passwords
« on: May 31, 2009, 01:42:41 PM »
In case anyone else needs this. I have made a full switch to FF3 from Opera using a few plugins to add the things i like (gestures, speeddial, etc). My two biggest issues were the download popup window (fixed in about:config if u need it) and the lack of password save support for websites using https.

To save passwords on websites where FF will not prompt you, follow these simple directions:

hey ethic if you and i were both courting lily allen..... oh wait, which one of us has a relationship that lasted more than the bus ride home?

Hey man!

My favorite FF add on is Undo Closed Tabs Button.  Damned handy at home and at work.

You probably already found this, but All-In-One Sidebar is pretty handy when detoxing from Opera.  As is DownThemAll!.  PDF download is also handy.

I like FoxTabs for work, but rarely use it at home.

Really other than being (IMO) alot slower, the only thing I really miss anymore is the lack of the integrated ability to neatly save and restore multiple tab sessions.

As far as auto-fill, passwords, etc I use Roboform.  Works really well.  I give it a 9/10.  Even works pretty well in Steam.

http://www.roboform.com/

Just so you know it isn't free.  $30.  I pirated it for a couple of months, liked it, and purchased it.

I find the more add-ons I have with FF, the slower it gets.  And I swear if it didn't check for add-ons each time I loaded the damn thing, it wouldn't be such an issue.  So I've tried to limit my add-ons where possible.

I did just download 'downloadthemall'... been meaning to find a better downloader.  I'll give it a try!

DownThemAll!

Not download

I am not trying to annoy.  I made the same mistake and couldn't search/find the silly thing.

I agree with the add ons slowing it, though I find it much less so with 64 bit OS.  I usually have around 10 add ons.  Some are simply part of other programs.  IE Java, roboform...

since we are talking add ons, is there a way to make the "new tab" tab in FF like opera, so i can just click it to open a new tab instead of hitting ctrl+t? hope that makes sense

PDF download is also handy.

That plug in caused us some grief at work.  Apparently a lot of the teachers have it but when they upgraded FF the add-on broke.  So they called and said that the PDFs were broken.  Considering some of the other server problems at the time it seemed plausible.

Stupid FF...

It works now.  It may not work with the beta though.

Not sure what you mean... if you customize the buttons at the top, you can add a "new tab" button.  Also, if you double-click the tab bar it opens a new one.
