Good PS3 games
« on: August 26, 2009, 04:44:38 AM »
So, on Monday my wonderful girlfriend came home with a shiny new PS3 (I only sent her out to get milk   :) ).

Well, I've been out of the loop of console gaming for years, the last console I had was the original playstation. Name some good games for me.

I'm only ever going to get a couple of hours here and there for gaming so stuff like Final Fantasy is no good.

I think my favourite ever console game was Metal Gear Solid on the PS. Is there a more recent one for the PS3 and is it any good?

It's seems that there is a Metal Gear Solid 4 for the PS3, has anyone played it?

MGS4 is pretty good. If you're into any of the first 3 you should enjoy this one.

Depending on the genre you like here's some top games I suggest:
Platformers: Ratchet and Clank Future Tools of Destruction, Uncharted Drake's Fortuen
Shooters: Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare, Resistance 1&2
RPG Adventure: Elder Scroll's Oblivion
Fighting: Street Fighter 4, Soul Calibur 4
Sports: MLB the Show, NBA 2K series, Skate

Some of these aren't PS3 exclusives and some have sequels coming out soon this fall. Personally, I'm giong to pick up Uncharted 2, CoD Modern Warfare 2, and God of War 3 when they come out. I'll also be picking up Batman Arkham Asylum when it drops in price (it just came out).

What'd she do wrong?

LOL, I thought the same thing when I read that the other day!  My wife's never even gone out to get milk, let alone come home with a PS3 :)

She probably explained in great detail all of the evil things she's done as Phil was setting up and testing out the PS3, hence the cluelessness.

Hey the new PS3 Slim seems to be selling really well.  What makes it so much better than the previous model(s?)?  Well, other than being slim.

The $299 price tag. I think the previous iteration was like $399 or $499?
