Don't we need specific items?

Traffic signal
Pond/body of water
Parking Lot
School Zone
Park Bench
Sidewalk
Local Business (not a chain)
Something out of the ordinary in your neighborhood
Shot from a local newspaper
A local pet/animal (not your own)
Road sign for a local highway
The mileage indicator from a car
Someone wearing a hat
Some sort of sports equipment
A plate of food involving noodles or rice
An empty pizza box
The temperature from any sort of device (thermostat, thermometer, etc.)
A single blade of grass
Tread from a tire

I'll stop there for now.

Yeah, it's going to be a dumb scavenger hunt if you're trying to photograph things like "love" or "fury" or something

I think a mix of both physical objects and abstract concepts could be cool.

so, like "inside of a tire tred" is sort of cut and dry but "love" is interpretive and artistic... it could be someone or something you love or people showing love or your interpretation of the corrupted institution of love.

so both would be cool.... but weighted with more on the tangible objects side would probably be better.

So neither of you read the other topic's proposal?  A picture of a thermostat is gonna be pretty boring (thermometer might be ok).  Specific items make it hard to be artistic.  Though some things on ober's list would be good (like a road sign).

No offense, but the abstract stuff doesn't necessarily make sense.  It's very subjective and people could disagree which would lead to a DNQ.

When I was thinking of a photo scavenger hunt initially, I meant something that would actually involve trying to find things that you might not be able to see from your desk and photographing them

We'll need to find the right amount of abstract then.  But if we are just taking pictures of boring things then what is the point of doing an artistic vote at the end?

You can still be artsy with 'boring' things.  Use your imagination.  Good artists turn boring things into interesting shit.

Something hanging
Odd vehicle
A bird at 90+ feet of salt water (j/k)

I like the idea of having at least a few that are open to interpretation. "Cold" is great IMO.

I'll add:
Sun(rise/set)
Sculpture
Bridge
Smoke

And just an idea, instead of voting I would say someone take charge and just pick 10 at the end.  That way not only would we get a good variety but it would also prevent people from taking pics before the contest officially starts.

Well I hope no one is that scumbag enough to do it.  Perhaps a rule that exif data has to intact (save lat/lng) and we'll just take people on their word that they didn't edit it?
