I was looking at it on the background of my computer last night as I was doing a run on my still and I thought that would be a great place to run a still the old school way where you use a river to cool the coils.
hey ethic if you and i were both courting lily allen..... oh wait, which one of us has a relationship that lasted more than the bus ride home?

To make a long story short, no.  I have to budget in the special flash, we have been swamped, and short of technicians in my area.

When I get ready to, I will probably double check my gear in here.

Even with the delays on this side I appreciate the timely advice.  Now I am not going off half cocked with unacceptable results.

Back on this again.

Making the initial feeler requests now.

The Tamron looks like a great option, however I don't have a Nikon, I have a Canon EOS T3.

I am looking at these three items.

Lens:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00009XVD5/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A23M3KL3V61UGY

Ring Flash:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00006I548/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

Adapter:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002O3UOUW/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

Are these the correct options for a Canon EOS T3?  Can you offer any suggestions other than these?  Never hurts to save a bit of company money if it makes sense.

No problem.

I think given your requirement I probably wouldn't go for the Canon MPE-65. It's probably overkill, especially for the price. It's for taking pictures of very very small things.

edit>> It is a beautiful lens ( http://cdnimg.visualizeus.com/thumbs/6f/c9/dew,droplets,insect,insects,macro,ondrej,pakan-6fc9540f774d84717994d393a33e3868_h.jpg ) but can be very difficult to use.

The flash looks fine. edit2>> Except it's not a ring flash. It will work just fine, but you could also look at this http://www.amazon.com/Canon-MR-14EX-Macro-Digital-Cameras/dp/B00004WCI7/ref=pd_cp_p_1

Yay!  $1K less.

Any reason I should even consider the Canon over the Tamron?

For what you want to do? Probably not.

Okay.

I am actually placing the purchase request (already have approval).

This is our camera.
http://www.amazon.com/Canon-Rebel-T3-Digital-18-55mm/dp/B004J3Y9U6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1361367539&sr=8-1&keywords=canon+EOS+T3

I am requesting these...

http://www.amazon.com/Canon-MR-14EX-Macro-Digital-Cameras/dp/B00004WCI7/ref=pd_cp_p_1

http://www.amazon.com/Tamron-AF-90mm-2-8-Di/dp/B00021EEA4/ref=sr_1_6?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1360182392&sr=1-6&keywords=sp90

1) Will I need any adapters, lens covers, etc?
2) Can you give me a Canon equivalent for that lens in case purchasing demands it?
3) Anything at all that I have missed?

There won't be offense taken, I am very new at this and learning a new skill set entirely.

I do have a tall and short tripod set that I use on occasion.
