Oblivion
« on: January 21, 2007, 09:07:21 AM »
I picked up Oblivion recently.  It was the first time I have played this type of game.  Very interesting. Beautiful environments.  HUGE "world".  Really other than an occasional semi-minor bug it has been a hard game to criticize.

Anybody else play this?  Reviews?

I just played it - finished the mail quest sometime last week.  I loved it.  I still want to go in and play the Theive's Guild quest line with my character.

Biggest problem I had was I leveled too slowly.  I listened to all the advice that you take your time leveling so the npcs don't get too hard for you...well that means that I beat the game at level 10 or something and now I jump 2 or 3 levels at a timne and my equipment isn't that great.  I need to level soem to get some new gear before the big expansion comes out in a month or 2...
govtcheez03:  i kind of look for it - i seek out stupidity and annoy it until it either gets better, gets banned, or goes away on its own

Been playing Morrowind for an age. One of those games I pick up every three months or so.

The thought of playing bores me, but when I start to play I finish up unable to stop.

I played for a little while but a lot of minor things bugged the hell out of me, mostly the leveling system and the way they nerfed the game to make it easier to play on the Xbox. Got caught up in the modding community instead, made a few myself. Assuming you are playing the PC version, do a search for the following mods:

PJ's Spell Compendium
PJ's Lightning Strikes During Storms
PJ's Telekinesis Spells
PJ's Disco Spell

Youtube has tons of videos of my mods in action, just do a search
Spell playlist
Disco and Lightning

FYI

I finished all of the major missions.  I make it to King Shit of...Fighters, Mages, Theives, and Dark Brotherhood.  I have also explored and pillaged most if not all of the caves, castles, etc.  Further I have finished a pile of mini-missions from fishermen to goblin hunting.  Fun game so far.

I am now working on the main mission and have reached the Bruma battle.  I expect I am halfway through the main mission.  BTW main mission is HARD!!

Obe you ever try this game out?

The enemies aren't usually the issue.  I just find it damned easy to get turned around in those places.

Aha!

So where is that hidden?  Under the dragon fire?  In the original dungeon cell would make the most sense.... :(
