Title: 1&1 is cockblocking me
Post by: Steve on July 19, 2008, 03:06:35 PM
I switched to 1&1 and apparently unless i have one of the higher packages they dont give me the option to password protect directories. No big deal i thought, ill just do it myself with .htaccess and .htpasswd.

No dice, i keep getting internal 500 errors. Is this because they are cock blocking me? I have done it before and im using the proper formats and such. Lame because my WAP portal might be burried in the directory tree but it contains business documents and such and i need it locked down.

First thing I would do is check the permissions on the files.  I know some hosts don't like 777 so try changing all the files to 755 or less
