Title: Recording stream video
Post by: Micko on April 13, 2005, 02:56:55 PM
Hi guys, recently I found this link on cboard:
http://www.comedycentral.com/mp/play.jhtml?reposid=/multimedia/bush_inaug/213_bush_inaug_blk_bush.html
I asked question there how to save this as file on disk and got advice to check my temp files. I did check temp folder in windows directory, but it wasn't there. I know I could use some recording software but I don't understand how this really works. I mean how IE use media player to play files over the net.
Maybe that file is cached but I don't know where.
If you can give me some explanation I would be very grateful.

Cheers

not your windows temp files, the cache files of IE or better yet Opera.  I'm not sure IE saves entire media files in its cache, but I know Opera does.

Thanks ober for prompt response.
If file is cached I would probably recognize it by extension and size. Perhaps another name is used??

I'm pretty sure there are programs there that will record the programs without having to dig through your temp folders.  If I remember where I heard about them I'll let you know.

It's often renamed... just look for the file type and try to view them.

Stream-Down (http://stream-down.cocsoft.com/) is good.
