I think the competition and the effort that the athletes put into it are fantastic, but the planning and ridiculous crap the host cities go through aren't worth it.  London sounds like it's the only recent games that has broken even, and even that seems to be up for debate.  From all accounts, Sochi is a disaster waiting to happen.

I usually really enjoy the Olympics.  Not so much the grand scale pageantry (ceremonies etc), but I enjoy the small scale stuff (medal ceremonies) and I definitely enjoy the competition and getting to see sports that I normally don't get to see.....


....but....I think this one is just going to be fun for the schadenfreude.

I don't like the spitsticker (I tried to type something else but my  auto complete gave that word, I think I'll just leave it.), but I do enjoy the hockey and some of the skiing events. Curling is actually pretty addictive once you get into it, but I don't think it should be an Olympic sport. If it is why not bowling and darts too?

The hockey in '10 was some of the best hockey I've ever seen.  Both USA-Canada matches were probably in the top 5 games I've ever watched.  High bar for this year.

Yeah, it was a good year for hockey. It will be interesting to see them back on the international sized ice again.
