Dual Layer vs. Double Layer?
« on: July 30, 2007, 01:47:32 PM »
I was in Best Buy today looking to purchase some dual layer dvds and noticed the "double layer" versions.  Is there a difference?  I assume there has to be since a 10-pack of dual layer was $30 and a 25-pack of the double layer was $30 as well.

Bens usually.

I like TDK.  Dash R is more compatible.  And Tayo Yuden (sp?) is also good as a general rule.  Fuck Verbatim.  Memorex blows too.  Dunno about BenQ.  Sonys seem to be a bit slower but are a good solid buy.

If a burner is DVD+R as well as being capable of the other formats, then the terms dual and double mean the same thing and they can call a drive either double or dual. If a drive is DVD+R only, then it will be labeled as "double layer". When it comes to the disks, however, its the same thing. They are simply disks with more 2 layers instead of one. i never really understood the need for the weird termonology, but someone thought it made sense at some point.

As for cheaper online, 30.00 isnt a bad deal really

depending on the quality i was referring to the 10 pack. i would wager to say the 25pk at the same price is cheaper dvd's
