Woot broke 20 miles!

Yesterday I did a ride for 20.10 miles and today for 21.02 miles.  I'm closing in on doubling my initial ride distance.

And I have to say what a difference a day makes.  Yesterday I wasn't feeling great before or during the ride by still got it done in an hour and 20 mins (avg of 15.0 mph) and today I felt a lot better and did the ride in an hour and 21 mins (avg of 15.4 mph).

At some point the ride will be long enough that I can't do it everyday due soley to time conflicts.  Trying to figure out what to do at that point.  I'm thinking at that point doing shorter rides but trying to focus on different parts like pacing, speed, etc.

Next major goal is 35 miles so that I can ride to campus.  Though that one will take some major planning if I don't want to make the ride twice in a day.

Um cycling is pretty low impact.  I have bad knees and they don't hurt a bit while I ride.  Now my hips and ass, they burn like a motherfucker.  Sometimes my lower back also so I probably need to get some training on proper posture

ever since the second knee surgery my left knee cant take the motion. its not so much the impact since i still race the quad its the extention/compression motions. I extend on the quad too but not like that. Granted i get off the quad and the next day i can hardly stand but the next day im fine. if i ride a bike its a painful week

running is very high impact, even more so then my quad races. i cant do that at all more then a short sprint

Actually, my knees get messed up sometimes after I ride.  Not sure why, but it's the same pain I get after not rotating completely in a throw.

The reason I chose cycling is because I knew it wouldn't fuck my knees up more.  Now I've had "pain" (more like burn) around the knee while riding a few times but it just felt like the muscles doing their thing.  Of all the joints to not feel well after the ride it is my elbows that have faired the worst.

Oh yes, back to your 20+ miles.  Congrats.  As a sprinter, I pretty much died in my tri after 10 miles.

As for my knees, it's definitely not the "burn" you get from working hard.  It's more like "oh, the medial part of my knee feels like it's being stabbed when I go up steps" kind of feel after I ride.  It happens sometimes when I lift too.  Probably not so good.
