Bugger...
-
That doesn't look to me to be much of a security lock.
Reminds me of a Mitch Hedberg bit:
I rent a lot of cars, you know, 'cause I go on the road. I rent cars and when I drive a rental car, I don't know what's going on with it, right? So a lot of times I drive, like, for ten miles with the emergency brake on. That doesn't say a lot for me, but it really doesn't say a lot for the "emergency brake." It's really not an "emergency brake", it's an "emergency make-the-car-smell-funny lever."

I have to say I wasn't that impressed with how little effort it took, and with how little (cosmetic only) damage it did.
-
In that case, I suggest contacting its manufacturer to complain.
-
no kidding, that's like duct taping a chain to someones bike...
that laptop shouldn't have been able to move, that's what the point of the security lock is...fucking nubs
-
Well, is that neccesarily the fault of the lock, or the notebook?
-
well he did break it himself, but what's the point of a lock if anyone can just break it like that and walk off with the laptop?
-
they handed out chains with our laptops that we never use... nobody on campus. it's too much hassle that can be broken too easily. it's easier just to take the laptop with you when you leave.
-
well he did break it himself, but what's the point of a lock if anyone can just break it like that and walk off with the laptop?
Understandable, but I repeat: is it the fault of the lock, or the shoddy build of the laptop?
-
I say the build of the laptop. But then... how many laptops are built heavy enough to withstand a formidable amount of force from the side? They're pretty flimsy things to begin with. I'm not sure any lock would do a whole lot of good without proper internal support.
-
Agreed Ober - but I walked away with it in my hands - I'd have thought it would have pulled the laptop out of my hands, but no, just a little tug, and it was off.
-
That's why I say if you're going to use a lock, have some sort of structure built into the internals of the laptop. Something that is more than just an attachment to the side of the plastic body.
-
And then you end up ripping out your video card..... :kickass:
Wow, this is the only forum I know where post counts are in binary....hahaha

hex now...it's more impressive
