Title: wtf is happening?
Post by: Ken Fitlike on April 19, 2005, 07:54:14 AM: Could anyone that knows the current state of affairs with the site please post some sort of explanation here. Or relate their personal experience with current problems (or not).

Since Mike first mentioned time-outs a few days ago I've been noticing them with increasing frequency/duration. I haven't been able to access the site using the normal url since sometime yesterday, other than today through a link major_small posted in cprog gd. Judging from the comments there this seems to be a fairly common problem.

So, if anyone has any news whatsoever please keep us posted even though most us will probably be unable to read it. :rolleyes:

Post by: [stealth] on April 19, 2005, 08:10:18 AM: Both at home and at work, the DNS fails to resolve "http://www.entropysink.com". However, http://orbit.dnsprotect.com/~entropy/forums/ works fine for some reason.

I work too much for not enough money, and I think I'm going to be losing my overtime really soon.

Post by: l33t-5h1t on April 19, 2005, 06:48:16 PM: DNS still down in my area, but the dnsprotect path works so I don't know...it's been over 24 hours since I've been able to get to it so either it's not fixed, or DNS around here updates quarterly...

In case anyone hasn't seen it at jboard, here's Ober's explanation:

Irregardless, if I hadn't changed the nameservers, we'd still be down because I still can't get to ES through FTP using the IP. So unless it is going to be more than another day or so, I'm just going to leave the DNS alone so that it points to the new server when we get there.

Hopefully our uptime will go back to normal and you won't see the timeouts and DB errors when we get moved.

The reason for this is because it's not able to use cookies so it's using Session IDs sent via GET
