contrast with the just announced Call of Duty trailer which has taken the franchise way to far into the future it might as well be halo.

last check, it's got about 1.2 million dislikes!

I was one of the 'dislikers' on the COD video.  That shit is a joke.  On the flipside... I am tentatively looking forward to BF1.  I almost exclusively play games in the BF series (ask Knuck).  BF4 is amazing and we're approaching 3 years in on the game and it's still VERY strong in terms of numbers of people playing actively.

I like the modern 'current day' shooters so I'm curious to see how BF1 turns out.  It looks damn good though.  As one person put it... 'motherfucking tactical shovel... HELL YES!'.  :)

I really used to like the Day if Defeat (DoD) CS mod back in the day. It was also a WW1 theme. BF1 looks pretty cool. If I had a home computer, and if that computer ran windows, and then if I found time to play a game, i'd totally check it out...

Yes.... because it's WWI... I know, it's strange.  Not sure what they'll do for the next in the series?

WoW was so many years ago.  Now, KSP or Fallout is a different story...

Not sure what KSP is and I could never get into the Fallout games.  FPS is my genre followed by sports/driving/simulation.

So for you FPS players what do you think of this?

What do I think of it?  IDGAF.  If I thought about all the stuff I potentially downstream support as a result of everyday purchases, I'd have the same moral conundrum (even if I had one about this).  He doesn't give any facts or data about how much those licensing costs are so I don't know if that pays them enough to potentially downstream fund a terrorist plot or if it simply pays the salary of a few line workers that build the guns.  Either way, there isn't anything in that video that makes me double think playing or purchasing the games that I do.  I appreciate the realism.  In fact, that's the one reason I play the BF series over others (for the realism).

he says that some of the realistic guns in games like battle field and CoD are actually licensed by the gun manufactures, since they're using the likeness and name of the company's trademarks.

therefore, when you buy a game that has these virtual guns, by extension, you are giving money to gun makers and this could create an ethical dilemma for people who don't like guns in real life but have no qualms about shooting digital people in the face with the super realistic virtual guns.

Its nice of him to point this out for people who care.... although, I find it interesting that there are people who like shooting fake guns yet are so adverse to real guns that they don't want manufactures to profit.  Like, if you're that anti-gun why do you play gun-based video games?  And on the flip side, if you can understand the fun of shooting guns in video game, can't you maybe understand why people like to own and shoot them IRL?

I didn't see that as his point.  He himself said he doesn't like guns but doesn't care if someone else has them (I think I'm remembering his wording correctly).  I don't think most people that play these types of games have problems with guns in general.  I think there are higher numbers of people that take issue with ultimately funding other things unintentionally, which is what his point was.

I'm shocked they have to actually pay licensing fees for historical accuracy.

I'm not. I'm sure car makers are involved in the way their vehicles are depicted in video games, why not other items?

Looks sort of fun, but I'm going to hold off for a bit.  I want to see if it fades like Hardline and Battlefront before diving in.  I like the modern shooters (BF3/4) and I'm not thrilled about the BF1 setting.

Yes, I saw the horses.  I've been watching videos for months and one of the channels that I subscribe to on YouTube has been live streaming gameplay every day for a week.
