AS Results :D
« on: August 18, 2005, 08:57:13 AM »
Yay I got my AS Level results today. What pisses me off is the college expect you to choose what courses you want to enroll for by tomorrow, based on your results

Hmm anyway I failed Accounts
    Module 1: U
    Module 2: U
    Module 3: U

Meh, I knew I was going to fail it from day 1, still I didn't expect to fail it that much.

Passed computing:
Module 1 [Software and Sys. Analysis]: B
    Module 2 [Programming / Algorithms]: A
    Module 3 [Coursework]: D

So I'm dropping Accounts and picking up Electronics (I'll have to stay at college another year but oh well).

Just thought I'd share it with you.

You mean British. Damn I don't know what you call them in the USA either so we're both pretty screwed.

College here is the same as your high school I think, and your college is the same as our University *I think*.

i dont understand all those weird modules either - in my day you just got one grade per A or AS level (now i feel old i am getting flashbacks of little old men in flat caps going - 'children today.... etc etc')

Yeah that's how I thought it worked until recently. They do provide a table that shows your overall grade though. B for computing and U for Accounts.

I wonder why they changed it. Meh.
So what's everyone's view on the apparent ease of GCSE, AS and A levels in Britain recently? On the news last night it was broadcast that today 96.5% of students are expected to pass with A-C, and the remaining are expected to fail.

Of course as a student myself I say they're not as easy as people are making out, but then I'm taking them now, not then.

being honest they seem slightlier easier to me - things i had to do as part of my 2 Maths A levels and my Calculus AS level now seem to be left till 1st year undergrad
