I'm not sure how you can say that hockey requires a long attention span but still be a baseball fan

In baseball you can turn your attention to something else in between pitches.

Not if you really like baseball!  You have to savor every bit of THE BATTLE between the pitcher and batter!  Every spit, every timeout, every hot babe in the stands.  The pruity of the game!

Baseball is different for me.  I've played baseball or softball my entire life.  I've never suited up and played hockey so I can't really get "into" it.

Well hell, as much as I hate the Penguins, they do have some very good exciting young players.  Check out a game next year.  If you go in person I promise you'll like it

Hockey = ball hit with sticks.

Ice hockey = puck hit with sticks.

Football = soccer = balls being kicked.

American football = balls being picked up and run with by men in girly armour.

Rugby = balls being picked up and run with by real men with no armour.
