Soundbars

Who has one?

I'm going to be redoing my living room entertainment cabinet and minimizing (the components are going to go downstairs). I'm pretty set on getting a soundbar but not sure which one to go with. I looked at them a few years ago and it seemed like Yamaha made a pretty good one but it's been a few years now and I'm sure there's something new (or maybe not).

I stopped into the Bose store (happened to be shopping nearby) and listened to one of their offering and while it was OK, it sounded a bit harsh in the high end and just not overall as nice as what I'm looking for. And for the money I'm pretty sure there are better options out there.

knuck, I'm thinking you might know something about this area.

I have listened to a Yamaha.  Not the Bose.  I didn't know Bose made one.  I know Visio is a strong competitor in that market.

They can be very limited in where you sit, and the height of your listening position.

I was not blown away by the concept by any means.

I still find  that a high quality set of stereo speaks is vastly better than 90% of all surround systems.
