The soil temperature in the west is high enough due to the gulf stream.

Plockton (on the mainlaind, close to Skye) and Bute, for example. More on google.

No sarcasm, but it does come as a bit of a surprise to a lot of people, even the natives, particularly when it's snowing. ;)
