are Winamp & Music Match still the big ones? I am excluding iTunes which I will never use.

I don't know if Songbird is still around, but that was a pretty cool project. Runs on Windows/linux/mac.

I use vlc for video. Music Match never used to be a virus it was a great program. Looking now it seems nobody has touched it since XP era lol

As an aside...

Win 8 does not include CODECs for Blu-Ray.

Now I have to grab a Blu-Ray disc and try it. Why in the world wouldn't that be included? So many computers ship with Blu-Ray players.

They didn't want to pay licensing fees.  I think.  I forget the specifics.  The more I think about it the more I think that it may have been for MPEG2 files.
