SMF question
« on: February 22, 2012, 03:02:22 PM »
I'm wondering if those of you who have admin'd or worked on SMF might know of a way around this problem.

Is there any way to mark a thread so that it will not show up in the "Show new replies to your posts" list?

You could delete the post(s) you made in the thread if your board allows post deletion. But that's not always ideal. I know you can unnotify, but the "Show new replies to your posts" list doesn't use the notification setting, it (apparently) just scans the threads to see where you've posted. Any ideas?

Maybe there is a plugin for it.  I don't know.  I personally want a feature that will allow you to mark entire threads as 'ignored', which is basically what you're asking for.

Yeah... that exact mod was brought up and is probably the best solution. Now that I read about it in more detail I doubt there will be any better options.

Thanks.

I wouldn't mind trying it out here, but I don't know if it really is a problem on this board. Maybe if somebody posts in the music draft thread (when I start it) but doesn't want to see it in their lists all the time, or some other huge thread like youtube of the day. But I don't think we have so many threads that it's a problem.

But if you want to try it I don't mind.

What I'd actually like here is a spoiler mod.

I'd like to ignore sports threads

Stop working out.

Then ignore the sports board.

I must be missing something.  I installed that mod but I don't see options to actually use it.  I see it in my profile to manage things I've ignored but I don't see the option to ignore things.  And it doesn't even do what I want.  I want it to not show up as 'new' in the board index!

Ok, kinda stupid.  It looks like you can only add topics to the ignore list via the unread search.  http://www.entropysink.com/forums/index.php?action=unread -> check the topics you want to ignore -> Click on "Ignore Topics"

Make sure you have quick moderation enabled: http://www.entropysink.com/forums/index.php?action=profile;area=theme -> "Show quick-moderation as" and use checkboxes

Ah, there it is.  I never use the unread functionality.  Maybe I should start.

Turn on quick moderation:

Modify Profile > Look and Layout > Show quick-moderation as > checkboxes.
