Followup: The mod only applied itself to the default theme.

Curve is so much better than Core. It just takes a bit of getting used to.

So, it looks like my options are ugly theme with ignore
functionality, or functional theme without ignore.

you could ask Mike nicely to take five minutes and add it to the other theme.
