Better DNS host management
« on: March 18, 2010, 12:07:44 PM »
Currently, I use 1and1 for my domain registrations and DNS management, I use another shared host for the web hosting. The downside of 1and1 is they limit the number of subdomains you can have in their non-premium offering. I'd like to learn about other domain hosts that offer a nice complete set of tools for just the yearly domain price. A couple things that would be nice (simply to play around with) would be DNS load balancing abilities, and TTL settings.

What are you guys using for domain stuff and do they have these features?

I buy my domains here: http://www.active-domain.com/

But the nameservers are managed by my host: http://www.ace-host.net/ and I don't see options for those features.  I do have unlimited subdomains with my host though.  I can manage addon domains, parked domains, CNAME and A records, as well as managing redirects for all domains and subdomains.

I do the same as ober. I register at godaddy and then manage subdomains at my host, http://www.jumpline.com

Get a VPS, slap bind on it, and go to town.
