Question for you car whores
« on: May 01, 2009, 07:11:43 PM »
Several of you seem to be into cars so I wanted to get your input.

I'm looking at getting a new vehicle.  I got rid of the truck since I wasn't driving it and the Honda is kinda small in the storage department for my scuba trips.  I went looking and came across the Chevy HHR.  I took it for a test drive (around the block, gonna go back and try to get one where I can hit the freeway) and I liked it.  Seems to have the few options I give a shit about (sunroof, connection for iPod, bluetooth for phone).

Has anyone heard anything truly bad about it?  I know it isn't a powerful beast but I don't need that (I can already do 90 on a 4 cylinder, more power would just get me into trouble).  I'm mainly looking for things like defects that have plagued it.

They look good.  I have talked to a few folks with them.  I was interested for a while.  Nice vehicles but not much oomph.

Lets see I have a Texan and an Aussie saying they are ugly.  Must mean they are hot :D

I'll admit they aren't the pretty ones on the street.  Don't really care.  I don't think I've seen a vehicle in that class that is.  I'm looking for something that does what I need and doesn't break my bank.

What class of vehicle is it actually in anyway? The closest European equivalent I can think of is the car-derived-van-come-people-carrier types cars.

Something like this:

Something like this:

Crossover SUV.  So car platform with elements taken from larger vehicles.
