I've been reading the comic as its been coming out for a long time now. If they keep to how it was written it'll be pretty awesome. They guy that writes them (Kirkman) isn't afraid of killing main characters off so it should get more interesting as it goes along

Yeah we'll see if they blew their wad on the premiere or not.  One review I read said the second episode is kind of boring, but whatever.  It's not like the first was super action packed, either

Made it about a quarter of the way through before I left for work.  Probably finish after I get home while cooling off from the gym.

I thought it was terribly, terribly cliched, but then somebody reminded me that dude, it's a zombie TV show.

So for what it is, it's not bad so far.

Shows like this, and movies like The Road really make
me wish for some sort of apocalypse. I think that would
be an awesome, meaningful way to live. Survival, that
is.

Not unless you have stuff worked out before the dead rise/bomb goes off/aliens land (delete as applicable). That's why I have a collection of weapons, a portable generator and a lifetimes supply of baked beans under my stairs. No other reason...

I've been reading The Road and it is definitely not a future I'd want to live in.  Fun to read about, though (and depressing)

Before?  No, not so far (I'm probably 2/3 of the way in).  It makes it sound like there was an explosion from a nuclear bomb or something, but it's vague.  In the part where it happens, the father seems to know what's going on or is sort of prepared for it, so to me it implies that it was an ongoing war of some kind.

I haven't seen the movie - I had it from Netflix for like 3 weeks and was never in a mood to watch it.

edit: I'm going to take a break from the book for a little while since it's so depressing
