Title: File Sharing - Windows XP
Post by: Canuck on December 12, 2005, 11:05:43 PM
My brother and are each running Windows XP home.  We share an internet connection through a router.

This is a 2 part question.  I would like to share some of the music I have with him, is there a protocol I can use to send the music directly through the router to his computer, without using the internet connection OR is there a safe way to enable file sharing.  Anything I should be concerned about if I do allow file sharing?

Thanks

Well, what is the stuff on your computer worth to you? If you don't have any real valueable data then I wouldn't be too conserned. If you enable Windows Xp file sharing it will share it over the local network, it won't share it with the outside world as long as your routers firewall blocks it.
