dead location from reconfiguration
« on: August 22, 2008, 04:27:41 PM »
I recently used Partition Magic to rearrange my primary disk in my computer.  I had it split into 3 drives (C,D,E) and I need more room on C.  It all seemed to go great and now I only have C and D.  Unfortunately, I told it to put everything on E (just some backups) in a folder on D.  But now that is completely inaccessible.  I think I have all that stuff on my backup drive, but I don't even think I can delete it.

Anyone run into this before?

(Ahluka's thread reminded me of this.)

I had that happen a few times. Seems to only happen when you do all of this in the same swoop. In other words if you say

Do this
Change This
move this

and then hit go problems tend to arise. If you move files on your own, or have PM do it seperate of deleting and resizing partitions, problems dont come.
hey ethic if you and i were both courting lily allen..... oh wait, which one of us has a relationship that lasted more than the bus ride home?

Oh i thought you just wanted the why. I'm not sure you can access those files now, but doesnt PM have an "undo" function? If not you may need a low level disk utility to re partition

Well... I did it several weeks ago, and I'm not sure it can be undone at this point.

if you find you dont have a copy of the files you can use data recovery software to try and pull it from the screwed up location. I use RDATA it works very well.
