Topic: Movie Help

I started watching a movie while I was on a work trip but I never got to finish it and I don't remember the name of it. I'm hoping someone here may be able to help me find it.

I'm pretty sure it was on the classic movie channel. It was set in the Australian Outback I believe and it was about this alien/time traveler that sort of guides this australian guy around from place to place and tries to philosophize about society and stuff and get him to see everything that's wrong with it.

Anyone have any ideas?

Nice try, but I'm pretty sure that wasn't it. It had a much more independent film feel to it too as I remember. Pretty much just the two actors in the movie. At one point, the female transports the guy to Vegas and he goes gambling all day while she waits out in the desert for him.
