Title: Wimbledon (150+ games in a single match)
Post by: charlie on June 23, 2010, 03:27:18 PM
Anybody following this? Mahut and Isner are tied 53-53 right now in the fifth set.

That's right, 53-53. First to 6 wins but you have to win by two and there are no tiebreakers in the fifth set at Wimbledon. I think they've gone like 130+ games without a break.

Wow.

I noticed this on TV before I left for work and it was 33-33. They've played a match's worth of games since then.

54-54.

Isner was up Love-30 but Mahut won four straight points to tie it up again.

ESPN or one of their channels I guess... I'm just following it through the CBSSports score page online:

http://www.cbssports.com/tennis/scoreboard?tag=saagContent;saagFooter

ESPN3.com has it streaming live also I think, but I'm at work so I don't want to do that.

57-57

It's got to be getting dark there pretty soon, no? I think they said the match started yesterday and the winner is supposed to play tomorrow.

They've played for 10 hours so far, including over 7 hours today (which is longer than the entire length of the previous longest match).

Oh, and it's USA versus France, for those who hate the French. :)

I was watching it at lunch...then all through my 4.5 hour class...then came home and caught the end of the replay....wow...just wow....so cool.  Only shame is that Isner really didn't want to stop at the end...Too bad I'm going to be in class tomorrow when it starts...

Well it finally ended:

6-4, 3-6, 6-7, 7-6, 7-6

Oh, sorry... typo. I meant:

6-4, 3-6, 6-7, 7-6, 70-68

i watched almost the entire fifth set - was supposed to have gone out for dinner but got too wrapped up in the tennis. it was pretty amazing but isner was in no state to play his next round match the following day which was a pity
