It isn't the presentation.  I just am not much of a fan of fish in general.  I hear the cheek meat is the best tasting part of a fish.  Go figure.

Strangely.  I like sushi.  Especially salmon, which is borderline nasty cooked.

One a year or so I can grill tuna steaks.  The process is more of a searing than cooking though.  Sear for a few seconds on each side and serve it up!  Ususally we marinate it in some sort of soy marinade first.

My wife loves fish to death.  I have seen her and her relatives do the eye thing, but I think her favorite part is the skin.

Oh and RoD they do remove the scales.

My mother-in-law lived with us for awhile when my wife and I had only been married for a year or so. One day I came home to find a whole fish in the oven (not cooking, just leftover). I enjoyed acting like it freaked me out, but really it doesn't bother me. :dunno:

I've had sushi a few times recently when traveling with co-workers/clients.  I can only stomach a few kinds.  And I can't stand the wusabe (sp?) sauce.

You need to mix the wasabe into the soy sauce (try to get the low salt stuff).  Mix it to the level of heat you like and dip lightly.

Laura generally likes it without either.

Aim for stuff that doesn't freak ya out first.  Then try smoked salmon, or broiled eel (tastes like perch), avoid sea eel until you are really into it (it costs more and is too strong for me - nothing like the other), softshelled crab (yeah its cooked) is a good one too.  Flyingfish roe (eggs) rock.

Now on the topic of sushi...

Try playing a game:
Have # of sushis (not the rolls, the ones with rice and fish) on the dish, smother some of them (depending on the amount of people in the game) with tons of wasabi between the fish and the rice. Then everybody pick one (or take turns if there are not a lot of people), and watch the excitement of the lucky ones who picked the ones with wasabis.
GO AWAY

I enjoy eating with chopsticks - even in fast food type Chinese places like panda express.

>>there is rice involved.  That's just frustrating.

that is why you should eat rice from a bowl - makes it much easier.

>>And I can't stand the wusabe (

try mixing a lil of it in soy sauce....mmmmm.
Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.

Russian Sushi? Sounds fun. But I'd just smother all of them in wasabi. I love spicy food.
