you haven't exercised ina while so your body is not used to it, and belive it or not rowing uses almost every muscle group in the body - so stretch well.

When I ran track I was always told that stretching before excercise actually increases your chances of injury, and that you should do some sort of warm-ups first instead. Also, they said that you won't have very good results if you try to stretch a cold muscle (that is, if you stretch after a workout it will increase your flexibility more)

Has anyone else heard this? :dunno:

From what Ive been told you cant stretch a cold muscle, so before my games in hockey, I usually do a few laps before I stretch.  Does it help? I dont know.  I am one of a few people on my team who does warm up laps and stretches...and I havent seen a teammate miss any time due to a pulled muscle....

I've heard that it's better to stretch after instead of before.  I don't think it's a "more prone to injury" thing as much as it is a "it's not going to help you" thing.  Stretching afterwards is definately key, from what I've heard.

Think of it like your car.  On a cold morning, you don't just floor it out of your driveway, you give it time to warm up.  Same thing applies to working out.  Ideally, you should stretch/jog before AND after strenuous exercise.

bottom line is no one will be happy with you if you aren't happy with yourself.  if you aren't happy with your weight, your job, whatever, do something about it or shut the fuck up.

Sorry to sound pissed off, I'm having a shit week.  And then my girlfriend decides to try to pick a fight with me last night..we're supposed to be meeting for lunch today, she'll probably do a no show.  Oh well, it's lasted just past 3 months, guess that's better than a kick in the balls.  God I hate having to breakup, you somehow always end up the "bad guy" through no fault of your own.  Guess I better get in and dump her before she dumps me, one small victory in war that is men vs women.

no offense stealth, but fucking grow up.  It seems like everytime you have a little quarrel with a gf, you head straight to splitsville and don't look back.  Ever heard of "working through it"?

you only have to work things through when there's a major commitment (IMHO).

if the extent of the relationship is bumping uglies - then why go through the stress of trying to fix something that isn't a major thing.
