Open Discussion / Re: Serious discussion: what's next for this site?

You all are part of my life.

CBOARD>fd>es - has been a part of us for 20+ years. There are not very many things that last that long, and that's special, I think. But the last 2 years or so, maybe closer to 5, have been on a drastic down slope, and I think continuing as is, is not a good idea. I rather remember the good times fondly than prolong the bad. So again, I say kill it. I think most of us have FB and if you'd like to stay connected there, I'd love that. I'll start a thread in private to link to profiles.

I get it.  Hopefully that's not signs of depression.  I've gone through some of that myself over the past several months.  I'm trying to reconnect with people and grow relationships because I've let the intrusive thoughts win too much lately.  That's part of the reason for trying to trigger something with this group.  I hold you all in a special place in my heart and mind and I would hate to see this all disappear.  But I get it.  Life gets in the way and everyone is busy.  I dunno.  You all are part of my life.

The great "what is even the point".  Combination of previous events, general conversation slowness, and giant pile of a billion other things wanting my energy.

Sorta similar to when you start typing a response on reddit and then stop and delete it because what is even the point?

I check the site almost daily but have a hard time posting.  Discord is fine but hard (IMO) to have subject based discussions rather than just a chat.

I'm probably on reddit far more often.

I need to open discord more often... I keep forgetting about that.

That's my general thoughts as well.  We did create an entropysink subreddit and then I got contacted by Reddit a few months ago saying that it was inactive and was going to be deleted unless I requested a hold.  I didn't.

No strong preference here. I check in in spurts and have it set to email if someone posts anyway (although I think that's currently broken).

I don't see any major reason to put effort into maintaining the site, though. Having a private subreddit or similar that doesn't need maintenance where we can go even if the site dies is not a bad idea especially for those of us who aren't connected to anybody on facebook or elsewhere.

If we do that I don't know that we need to maintain this site. But at the same time any other place would be dead on arrival unless people actually post stuff. If we do set that up I'd like to see people make an effort to start dumb conversations for awhile just so we don't have three threads and then dead. ;)

BTW, we currently have 8 active members who actually login semi-regularly.
