Dora and the Lost City of Gold

Ok ok, this is a dumb movie but I watched it with my 8-year-old tonight and, honestly, I found it to be delightful.
It does a great job of both embracing and mocking its cartoon origin while not feeling like a parody of the original series.  While there were a few jokes that adults would laugh at, they were mostly cerebral and trope. The guts of the movie is a classic teen comedy/action full of fart jokes and "grown-ups-are-dumb" slapstick that you might expect from a nickelodeon production.  But its entirely watchable -- presumably with your kids who have long lost nostalgia for the cartoon show that, for them, seems like a distant memory from their past.
